Impacts on Fire Safety

Transient Occupancy Tax Would Raise Funds for Local Housing and Emergency Fire Safety

If Measure W successfully passes, the seven West Marin Fire departments will meet to set bylaws on how the proceeds will be distributed and for what the proceeds can be specifically used for. All of the Departments would use the funds to address a variety of issues facing them including increased staffing when volunteers are not available, recruiting volunteers, expanded seasonal paramedic service, facilities upgrades, equipment upgrades and purchases, and the lack of affordable housing for staff and volunteers.
